Year round, we offer hunts for awesome Trophy Warthog as there are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Warthog in South Africa.

Our hunters typically hunt the South African Warthog in conjunction with a 5-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Warthog Hunt. We typically hunt Warthog Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Warthog including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

The Warthog, or Vlakvark in Afrikaans, which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are the biggest in the World. You can expect a 8+ inch Warthog on average when hunting with us, with some each year exceeding 12 inches.

The Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is a wild member of the pig family that lives in grassland, savanna, and woodland habitats in sub-Saharan Africa.

What do Warthogs look like:

The warthog has a large head with a mane running down its spine, and large upper tusks. Its body is covered in black or brown bristly hair, and it has a long tail. Warthogs can weight between 100-300 pounds.

Warthog Habitat:

Warthogs can be found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, savannas, woodlands, and even semi-desert areas. They like areas with access to water sources for drinking and wallowing.

Warthog Diet:

Warthogs are omnivorous animals that eat grasses, roots, berries, insects, eggs, and other fruits and small meats. Their diet varies based on the season, depending on availability.

Warthog Behavior:

Warthogs are active during the day, and spend most of their time searching for food. They are normally found in family groups with up to 40 individuals consisting of sows, boars, and their piglets. Warthogs have the strange habit of kneeling on the front knees while feeding.

Warthog Reproduction:

Females warthogs will give birth to a litter of 1-8 piglets after a gestation period of around 5-6 months. The piglets are born in a burrow and are weaned after a few months.
