The mountain reedbuck (Redunca fulvorufula) is a species of antelope found in southern and eastern Africa.
What do Mountain Reebuck look like:
Mountain reedbucks have a reddish-brown coat, which helps them blend into their grassland habitats. They have white underparts and a white ring around their eyes. Both males and females have forward-curving horns, with the males being larger and more robust.
Mountain Reedbuck Habitat:
Mountain reedbucks inhabit mountainous and hilly regions, particularly in grasslands, savannas, and shrublands. They are typically found at elevations ranging from 4,900 to 9,800 feet above sea level.
Mountain Reedbuck Behavior:
Mountain reedbucks are grazers and feed primarily on grasses and other vegetation. They are generally solitary or found in small groups, although larger herds may form temporarily, especially during the mating season.
Mountain Reedbuck Reproduction:
Breeding typically occurs throughout the year, and it peaks in the rainy season when food availability is higher. Female mountain reedbucks give birth to a single calf after a gestation period of about 7 to 8 months. The mother hides the calf in vegetation, returning periodically to nurse it.
