Another New Species of Wildebeest, the Royal, or White, Wildebeest!  Africa Hunt Lodge allows the opportunity to hunt and harvest the very rare South African Royal Wildebeest. The Limpopo Province of South Africa is one of the only destinations in the World to hunt the Royal Wildebeest. The Royal Wildebeest has been in solely breeding herds up until late 2023, and Africa Hunt Lodge was one of the first companies to begin hunting them. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Royal Wildebeest in South Africa, which makes it a suitable trophy year round.

Our hunters typically hunt the Royal White Wildebeest in conjunction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Royal Wildebeest Hunt. We typically hunt Royal Wildebeest Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Royal Wildebeest including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

The Royal Wildebeest which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are the biggest in the World, and Africa Hunt Lodge may be the only destination to hunt Royal Wildebeest. You can expect a 25-28 inch width Royal Wildebeest on average when hunting with Africa Hunt Lodge.

The Royal Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), is a large antelope native to eastern and southern Africa. They are a unique color variant of the Blue Wildebeest.

What do Royal Wildebeest look like:

Royal wildebeests have a white colored body, some marked with light vertical bands at the front and a saddle of golden or white typically on their flank. They have long white mane and as well as a white beard. Both sexes have a pair of curved, ridged horns that curved upward.

Royal Wildebeest Habitat:

Royal wildebeests prefer the dense bushlands, open grasslands, and floodplains of the southern savanna. They often migrate in search of food and water.

Royal Wildebeest Behavior:

Royal wildebeest are very sociable animals, and tend to form large herds that provide protection against predators. They migrate for a very long and harsh period in search of grass and water.

Royal Wildebeest Reproduction:

Royal Wildebeest breeding typically occurs during the rainy season, and cows will give birth to a single calf after a gestation period of about 9 months. Baby wildebeests are one of the most precocial animals, and are able to stand and run only a couple minutes after birth!
