The Limpopo Province of South Africa is the premier destination in the World to hunt the Reedbuck. Year round, we offer hunts for awesome Trophy Common Reedbuck. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Reedbuck in South Africa, which makes it a suitable trophy year round.
Our hunters typically hunt the South African Common Reedbuck in conjunction with a 7-10 day African Safari. One of our Experienced and Licensed Professional Hunters will be your guide during your Reedbuck Hunt. We typically hunt Reedbuck Safari Style, Spot and Stalk, or by Still Hunting if you are a Bow Hunter. We can accommodate all methods of Hunting for Reedbuck including Rifle, Bow, Black Powder, Crossbow or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.
The Common Reedbuck which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are some of the biggest in the World. You can expect a 14 inch Reedbuck (Gold Medal SCI) on average when hunting with us, with some each year exceeding 15 inches.
The Common Reedbuck (Redunca arundinum) is a medium-sized antelope species found in various parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
What do Common Reedbuck look like:
Common Reedbucks fur are mainly grey, while the head and shoulders are reddish-brown. The reedbuck has a bushy white tail and a white underbelly. Adult common reedbucks typically weigh between 98 and 198 lbs.
Common Reedbuck Habitat:
Common Reedbuck are one of the few species that loves taller grass. So common reedbucks are easily found in fertile rich valleys with lots of water, or near wetlands. They also can be found in floodplains, savannas, and woodland areas.
Common Reedbuck Diet:
Common Reedbucks are primarily grazers, feeding on grasses and other vegetation. They may also eat leaves, herbs, shrubs, or reeds.
Common Reedbuck Behavior:
Common Reedbucks are known for their territorial behavior, males especially, defending their territories against any intruders. They are more active during the day than night, and may rest in the shade during the hottest parts of the day. During the wet season, common reedbucks can be found in pairs, small groups, or by themselves. During the winter months it is extremely rare to find a solitary reedbuck, because the food and water is scarce.
Common Reedbuck Reproduction:
Common Reedbuck reproduction peaks in the rainy season, beginning at one or two years of age. Females reproduce in intervals of 9-14 months, with a gestation period of 7 and a half months.
