What do Waterbuck look like:

The color of the Waterbuck is reddish-brown with a lighter colored throat and underside. Only the Waterbuck males have long and ridged horns that curve backward. Waterbucks are easily recognized by the white ring marking around their rumps.

Waterbuck Habitat:

Waterbucks are commonly found savannas, grasslands, and woodlands throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. They inhabit areas that are close to water such as rivers, lakes, marshes, or swamps.

Waterbuck Diet:

Waterbucks are primarily grazers, they eat coarse grass and will occasionally browse leaves from different trees and bushes.

Waterbuck Behavior:

Waterbuck are active during the early morning and late afternoon, while they are seeking shelter from the heat during the day. Waterbucks are known to stand in water to escape from predators, they are strong swimmers that can flee into the water when threatened. Waterbucks are found in small groups consisting of females and their offspring and a dominant male.
